The gospel according to the Apostle Mark, is just one of the books summarised in the Bible Brief study book. Chapter one introduces us to John the Baptist, and the baptism of Jesus himself, then goes straight to the wilderness experience; after which Jesus returns and appoints fishermen Simon and Andrew as his first followers.   Most general Bible readers have the mistaken impression that Matthew, the opening book of the New Testament, must be our first and earliest Gospel, with Mark, Luke, and John following. The assumption is that this order of the gospels is a chronological one, when in fact it is a theological one.

The Gospel of Mark is the second of the Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, in the New Testament of the Bible.
